Shifah Musisi seems to be taking this year by storm. Her first two singles, “Emirembe” & “Ebilowozo” are already rocking airwaves and music charts across the country and the afro-soul songstress looks set to drop a brand new audio and video. This song, the third single off her Dark and Happy Times album is titled “Kusema”. In this song, Shifah Musisi merges Swahili and English to deliver a stunning piece of music.
The audio, like the previous two songs off the album is produced by the renowned Michael Fingaz who lends his creative touch to this compelling composition. In the song, Shifah sings about someone waiting for the person they love to say something hence the title “Kusema”, a Swahili word that means “speak” or say something.
As has become synonymous with most of her songs, Shifah Musisi stays true to her simple style in both the audio and video. The audio is simple yet compelling and will have you hooked. It is well arranged, great lyrical content and whereas the song takes on a more danceable tune, it is still signature Shifah Musisi.
The video also embodies the elements of the song. Simple, compelling and true to the artist’s character. Directed by Meddie Menz, the video is as beautiful as the song itself.
Whether the Stories of all three songs; “Emirembe”, “Ebilowozo” and “Kusema” are related is a question for another day!
“Kusema” drops on Sunday 29th April, 2018 on Shifah Musisi’s website in both audio and video.
